On May 11th, students from Helena High School and Central Elementary School planted 10 trees and pulled weeds at the Lincoln Campus with the help of volunteers from Growing Friends of Helena. HHS students broke ground at 9:00 AM, digging holes in previously identified locations. Shortly after, Central School students joined the HHS students and adult volunteers, pulling weeds in flower beds, placing the trees, and filling the holes with soil and compost. Willie Schlepp, Assistant Principal at Helena High School, stated that “the experience will be a life long memory for the students involved” and that “the collaboration between the schools and community provide a positive experience”. About 40 students and adults participated in the tree planting. Central School would like to thank Growing Friends of Helena and Helena High School for their work in making this happen.
