Capital High Student hosts Prom for Students with Special Needs

High school student, Treven Maharg has developed a deep relationship with longtime friend, Tanner Davis.  It’s through this friendship with Davis, who lives with Down Syndrome, that Maharg borrowed the idea from Tim Tebow to put on a prom for people with special needs.  According to Maharg, he “…liked the idea [of Tebow’s Night to Shine], so he took it and turned it to our own Helena scale.”

Everyone who attends is dubbed king or queen, and each attendee is gifted with a crown or tiara and a boutonniere or corsage.

This is the second year Maharg has organized the event.

This article was published in the Helena Independent Record, and Treven was awarded KFBB’s Monthly Shining Star.
