Remote Services Update: April 3, 2020
The Helena Public Schools will return from Spring Break on Monday, April 6, 2020. At this time, schools in Montana remain physically closed so upon return on Monday, students will be learning from home via remote learning. Please look for an update from your child’s school and/or teacher with specifics for Monday and next week.
Please know that, as a district, we continue to work through forthcoming decisions that we will need to make as this health-related school closure continues. As of now, all schools in Montana are physically closed through next Friday, April 10. However, the possibility of continued closure remains and as a district, we continue to plan/prepare accordingly. In the interim, please see the below updates related to food services and changes that impact our Grab & Go sites and schedules.
Grab & Go Food Services: The distribution of free school breakfast and lunch Grab & Go meals will resume on Monday, April 6, 2020. Please note that due to federal guidelines and restrictions, the below locations and schedules have changed. These changes will allow us to expand meals to seven days per week while remaining aligned with federal guidelines.
Deliveries will take place 3 days per week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
Below are the locations and times when meals may be picked up.
Please remember that parents do not need to have their child/children with them to receive these meals. Meals are free for any child, ages 1 to 18 years, regardless as to whether or not that child is enrolled in one of our Helena Public Schools.
Helena Food Share: Please know that the Helena Food Share is open and has food available for anyone who needs emergency food assistance. Helena Food Share’s pantries (in Helena and East Helena) are providing “Grab and Go” food boxes for those in need of emergency food assistance. This service is limited to two boxes a month and will be available at the front door of the Helena Food Share pantry facilities. Customers will be asked for a photo ID and the number of people in the household. New customers in need of food are welcome; just bring a photo ID. Please also remember to continue to contact your child’s principal for needs related to Chromebook devices. Chromebook deliveries occur each Friday including any needs received by the prior Wednesday. For example, Chromebook requests received by next Wednesday, April 8 will be met with new/exchanged devices next Friday, April 10. Those scheduled for a delivery will receive a personalized message with the date, time and location of their delivery for the coming Friday. Deliveries occur either at or near the listed residential address.
As we head into the weekend and a return to remote learning on Monday, please know that our entire school system remains committed to meeting the needs of our students. During this difficult time, we continue to be inspired by the encouragement and engagement of our students and families. Simply put, we miss you all but continue to work towards the day when we will be together again. In the interim, please continue to reach out with any needs that we can help address.
