Dear HSD Families and HPS Staff,
This evening, the Helena Public Schools Board of Trustees approved the transition of all schools to our Phase II model.
This model provides four days of on-campus, in-person instruction for all students as opposed to the two days currently available in the Phase I hybrid model.
Phase II will include in-person instruction on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Wednesdays remain a remote learning day for students but will include opportunities for online and in-person academic interventions and needed time for teacher planning.
Please know that the Digital Learning Initiative (DLI) will continue to serve our K-12 students/families that need to attend school via a remote option. For additional information about our forthcoming Phase II model, please refer to our website (link).
Our schools will need time to prepare in this regard. The below start dates for Phase II have been carefully selected in order to transition as quickly as possible while ensuring that we are providing the needed time to prepare. Should we be able to prepare faster than expected, these dates could move up on the calendar.
Additionally, know that you will be receiving follow-up communication from your child’s school in the coming days. In light of this future shift, we will need to accurately assess each family’s situation and plan accordingly.
Thank you for your continued patience, understanding, and support. As well, thank you for your support of our dedicated educators and other professionals. This year has provided infinitely more challenges than any previous school year but together, we will continue to adapt and overcome amidst this ever-evolving situation.
