Last Thursday, Friday, and Saturday our CHS and HHS bands, choirs and orchestra participated in the District Music Festival.

The Large Ensemble event was held at Helena High School and Helena Middle School, while the Solo/Small Ensemble event was at Gallatin High School in Bozeman.

Large ensembles perform two prepared pieces and read a piece they have never seen before, called sight-reading. Ratings are on a scale of 1-5, 1 (superior), 2 (excellent), 3 (good), 4 (fair), 5 (poor). Each group receives two scores that are averaged for their prepared music and one score for sight-reading.
