2021-2022 School Year Overview

Welcome to the 2021-2022 school year! Helena Public Schools is excited to welcome back our students, teachers and families!

Last spring, incoming Superintendent Rex Weltz shared with the community a draft of the district’s 2021/2022 Renewal Plan. We sincerely thank all of the families, staff and community members who provided feedback and thoughtful comments. Please take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with the 2021-22HPSRenewalPlan.

Much has changed since last spring and summer, when we enjoyed a couple months of relatively low COVID-transmission levels. While the Delta variant has certainly complicated our efforts to return to a normal school year, one thing hasn’t changed: Our commitment to keep our students healthy and return them to the five-day-a-week, in-person academic year they so deserve.

At this time masking is required for graders PreK-12. Masking is strongly recommended and optional for grades 9-12. Thank you for helping us protect our school community and keep our students in the classroom! See Superintendent Weltz’ welcome letter for additional details.
