2025 Board of Trustees Election Information

Candidate Filing Forms now available for trustee seats up for election May 6, 2025

The Candidate Filing Form is now available for three seats that will be up for election on the Helena Public Schools Board of Trustees on Tuesday, May 6, 2025. Forms may be obtained from Janelle Mickelson, Business Services Administrator, at the District’s Business Office, 1325 Poplar St. or from the Lewis and Clark County Elections Office in the City-County Building, 316 North Park Ave, Room #168. A printable candidate filing form is also available at this link.

Forms must be filed with the Lewis and Clark County Elections Office in the City-County Building, 316 North Park Ave, Room #168, by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 27th. The forms may also be returned to the District for filing but must be received in the District’s Business Office no later than 4:00 p.m. on March 26th.

Candidates who do not meet the March 27th deadline may file to be a write-in candidate for any available trustee position through 5:00 pm on Thursday, April 3rd, but the candidate’s name will not appear on the ballot.

The following seats are up for election:

• Three seats that represent the Elementary (K-8) District on the Board. These K-12 seats are for three-year terms. Anyone interested in these positions must be registered to vote and live within the Helena Elementary District boundary. These positions are currently held by Siobhan Hathhorn, Jeffrey Hindoien, and Kay Satre.

Candidates for trustee positions are subject to the reporting requirements through the Montana Commissioner of Political practices. Current forms are available at:
