The principal goal for HSD#1 students learning a language other than English is to develop and enhance their communicative proficiency and higher order thinking skills. In addition to exploring different cultures, HSD#1 world language students develop insight into their own language and culture and gain direct access to additional bodies of knowledge. They are linguistically and culturally better equipped to participate fully in the global community and marketplace.
