Dear Families, Staff, and the Helena Community,
It’s hard to believe how quickly the 2025-26 school year went by, but the energy is undeniable. The last few weeks leading up to the last day are my favorite because we get to witness the showcasing of so much hard work.
Earlier today we watched as our graduates from Mt. Ascension and PAL were honored at their ceremonies. Tomorrow morning, the momentum will continue when our seniors from Helena High and Capital High walk across the stage at their graduations.
To the Class of 2026, congratulations! Our district is proud of you. If I could leave you with one quick piece of advice as you head to your next chapter, it is to stay curious and never underestimate your own resilience. You have a community back home rooting for you every step of the way.
We still have a lot of celebrating left to do next week- from kindergarten graduations, to move-up days, and fifth and eighth grade send-offs. K-8 families, please keep in mind that it is early release at noon on Tuesday. Our teachers and staff will then wrap up their year with records days on Tuesday and Wednesday before heading into a well-deserved summer break.
We are really looking forward to these next few days, and we are keeping our fingers crossed for some great Montana weather as we finish up the school year.
Respectfully,

Rex M. Weltz, Superintendent
Helena Public Schools

In conjunction with the new building project, HHS wants to recognize and remember the deep history of the old building. To do this, they are working with their current students to put together a living history of HHS to capture the memories, lifestyles, and storied history of those who walked the hallowed halls. If you, a family member, or others attended HHS and would like to be part of this project, please complete the form below (it should be linked, so you can click on it and it will take you to the form). They will start working later this summer to get an interview plan together and start filming the project this coming school year.

In case you missed it: On the 9th episode of the season, our 2025/26 BOT student reps joined us to chat about their time in school, their time on the board, and what is next for them. We are thankful for their service and their involvement during their time as students!
