Helena Public Schools remains responsible for the bus routing and handling of student discipline, with shared office space at the local First Student facility.

Do You Want to Drive a School Bus?
What are the driver qualifications to drive a school bus in Montana?
A. Must have completed 5 years of licensed driving.
B. Must have a current Commercial Drivers License for the size of bus that the person will be driving.
- “S” Endorsement
- “P” Endorsement
- Air Brakes if the bus is equipped with them
C. Must have a current Medical Card from a qualified Medical Screener.
- Beginning June 1, 2012 drivers must provide proof of a current medical card to the Motor Vehicle Division. Letters will be sent to CDL Drivers prior to the June 1 deadline explaining the process.
D. Must have a current First Aid Card.
E. Must complete 10 hours of School Bus Driver Training annually.
F. When driving a bus, the driver SHALL carry a current Bus Driver Certificate signed by School Board Chair.
